Submitted by karenmorley on Sun, 01/03/2010 - 12:37

AN EDEN mountain rescue volunteer is among those from Cumbria to receive accolades in the New Year Honours List.

David Freeborn, deputy leader of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, has been appointed MBE.

David, who runs Viscom Studios in Penrith said the award reflected the hard work of the entire team.

Mr Freeborn dedicated his honour to mountain rescue volunteers throughout the UK.

He said: "People give up a lot of time, not only going up on the hills to rescue people, but more increasingly across the country in urban areas as well with floods and missing people."
